About Us
The Texas based company ICT4U Education LLC publishes specific resources to be used in Math classes to develop student’s Excel spreadsheet skills within a mathematical context based on the NCTM standards. ICT4U Middle School spreadsheets was launched at the NCTM conference in Atlanta in 2007.
Our first publication ICT4U Middle School Spreadsheets develops all necessary spreadsheet skills to enable students to use spreadsheets in mathematical investigations within the Math curriculum but to enhance their learning and the presentation of work in other learning areas.
The workbook is designed to be used by students who complete the activities, write their answers in the appropriate sections of the book, and paste in completed spreadsheets. This then provides them with a resource that is available at any time to revise any of the skills developed. The CD ROM provides demonstrations in visual form with captions and audio of every new skill developed, from widening a column to complicated spreadsheet skills. The students have a complete package that explicitly teaches the required spreadsheet skills and more!
Students live in a technical world. Technology is essential in the teaching and learning of math. ICT4U allows students to integrate the technology of spreadsheets into the learning of math, enabling the modeling of mathematical situations providing an opportunity for deeper mathematical understanding. Technology influences not only the math that is taught but the way in which it is taught enhancing students' learning. ICT4U enables spreadsheet technology to be embedded in the learning of mathematics, and the investigation of mathematical concepts, so that technology is integrated into the learning and not just an add on to the learning.
By developing spreadsheet skills in an integrated mathematical framework both mathematical and technological learning can occur providing an opportunity for students to engage in deeper learning. The link between the use of technology and the mathematical learning give a further relevance to both in an advancing technological world.
We are confident that students will enjoy using these workbooks and CD ROMs as they develop their spreadsheet skills, using these skills to enhance their understanding of Mathematics and in all their other subjects.
